Join IIST

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology(IIST) is the ISRO's own institute where courses are ISRO specific. This institute is located in Thiruvananthpuram of Kerala. This institute has 140 seats and offers two courses i.e normal 4-year B.tech course and a 5-year Dual degree course.

ISRO directly recruits graduate students from this institute who have 7.5 CGPA or more than that. So you can directly get into ISRO after graduation from IIST. Now let's know how you can get into IIST.

#2. Get into ISRO after B.Tech

You have also chances to get a job in ISRO after B.tech. If you wish to join ISRO after B.tech then you have to appear in the ISRO Centralized Recruitment Board(ICRB) exam. You have to crack the exam and then the interview round to get a job in ISRO.

This is an objective type entrance examination conducted by ICRB. Please note that you can't apply for this exam when you are in the final year of your degree. You can only apply after the completion of your degree.

Eligibility Criteria for ICRB Examination

ICRB is an entrance examination to get into ISRO. ICRB only allows the following 4 types of degree students to apply for the exams.

  3. B.Sc(Engg.)
  4. Diploma+BE/B.Tech(Lateral entry)
According to ICRB, there are only three types of streams students can apply for the exams. They are:-

Marks Required to apply ICRB Exams

There is a minimum of 65% or 6.84 CGPA marks required in the degree examination to apply for the examination according to ICRB.

Please note that apart from the ICRB examination, ISRO sometimes picks students from IIT's through campus drive. But it is not sure that every year ISRO does that. So try to crack ICRB exams to get a job in ISRO.


#3. Get into ISRO after M.Sc

ISRO also recruits M.Sc students when required. The process for recruitment is totally different from B.Tech students. The recruitment for M.Sc totally depends on ISRO's Center. You must know there are many ISRO centers around India. When there is a need for M.Sc candidates in some particular center, they release notification.

When there is a vacancy for M.Sc students in some particular ISRO centers, they release notification. The selection procedure is totally up to the Center. They sometimes organize a written exam and then interview for selection and sometimes they conduct only interviews for the selection.

Eligibility criteria for M.Sc students to join ISRO

In B.Sc 6.84 CGPA or 65% minimum marks required.
In M.Sc 6.5 CGPA or 60% minimum marks required.

#4. Get into ISRO after M.Tech

The process for the selection of M.Techstudents is the same as the M.Sc students. This recruitment also depends on the ISRO Center. When there is a need for M.Tech students for some specific ISRO Center they release notifications and select students according to their selection procedure.

MBA students can also join ISRO. The selection procedure is the same as the M.Sc and M.Tech. When there is required for MBA students in some ISRO centers, they push notification for that and hire them. But the no of the recruitment is very less.
