Introduction of Kaziranga National Park

The Kaziranga National Park is situated in the state of Assam. This Park lies in both the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of Assam. It is one of the oldest parks in Assam. It covers an area of 430 sq. KMs along the rivers of Brahmaputra on the North and the Karbi Anglong hills on the south. It is a world heritage site famous for the great one-horned rhinos. 

In the year of 1950, the Kaziranga National Park was declared as a wildlife sanctuary, and then in the year of 1974, it was declared a National Park. Kaziranga was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in the year of 1985.

The Kaziranga National Park is famous for its Indian origin One-Horned Rhinoceros. The park contains many endangered species of animals. The world's largest population of Indian rhinoceros and elephants and other animals include langors, a small population of hoolocks gibbon, tigers, buffalos, swamp dear, and many others lived here. Elephants and other animals migrate with the advent of the monsoon and head towards the Karbi hills to avoid animal flooding.

Thousands of migratory birds visit the park seasonally from far places. Many reptiles including water monitor, Indian Python, King Cobra and so are also made habitation in the park.
