2 Minute Speech on Mahatma Gandhi in English 2023

Good Morning, Everyone,
Respected Principal, teachers, elder brothers and sisters, and my dear friends.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for giving me this opportunity to say something on this special day. Today is 2nd October and we all are gathered here to celebrate the birth anniversary of the man who is popularly known as the father of the nation. Yes, he is no other than Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi.

Today, let's talk about Mahatma Gandhi, an exceptional leader whose life is a beacon of hope, a symbol of non-violence, and a powerful lesson in determination.

Gandhi was born in 1869 in Porbandar, India, to a modest family. He became a lawyer but then decided to dedicate himself to India's freedom from British rule. He believed in non-violence, which he called 'Satyagraha,' as his way of making change.

Gandhi led many movements for India's independence, including the Salt March in 1930, where he walked 240 miles to protest British salt taxes, and the Quit India Movement, demanding an end to British rule. His approach was always non-violent and inspired millions to stand up for their rights.

Gandhi's ideas reached far beyond India. They inspired civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. in the U.S. and Nelson Mandela in South Africa, showing that dialogue and empathy could bring about meaningful change.

In 1948, Gandhi was sadly assassinated, but his message still lives on. He teaches us that violence is never the right choice in our complicated world.

On this day, let us make a collective promise to nurture the spirit of Gandhi within ourselves, using it as a force to combat hatred and promote love throughout the world. Together, we can be the change we wish to see, carrying forward his legacy of peace and unity.

Thank You.
