The reason we all are gathered here is International Women's day. Today is International Women's day and every year on the 8th of March, International Women's day is celebrated with great joy and happiness.
This day, we celebrate International Women's Day to appreciate the achievements of Women around the world in the field of social, economic, cultural, and political and to encourage them to unlock their full potential and empower them to achieve their dreams. It is a special day for every woman around there and we all honor all the amazing women around the world who are making difference in their communities and in the world.
Women for ages didn't get equal rights and opportunities. We are in the 21st century but we still need to work in the field of gender equality which is very sad for our society. Although the situation has improved a lot compared to the past still women in some areas/countries still face discrimination, violence, and other types of oppression.
In the year 1975, the United Nations (UN) recognized International Women's Day but the history of Women's day started much earlier when a group of 15K women protested against various issues like lack of voting rights, equal opportunities, and low pay scale in the New York city of the USA in 1909.
Every year International Women's Day is celebrated under some certain theme which is decided by the UN. This year i.e 2023 International Women's day is going to be celebrated under the theme of "equal opportunities are no longer enough".
