First of all, I would like to thank everyone to give me this opportunity to speak something on this World Population Day.
Today is the 11th of July and we all gathered here to celebrate World Population Day. World Population Day is an initiative of the UN that is celebrated on the 11th of July every year.
World Population Day was first observed in 1989 by the initiative of the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program. The United Nations Development Program governing council take the decision to observe World Population Day after seeing the number of population in 1987. In 1987, the world population crossed the 5 Billion mark and that was a worrying situation for the entire world.
World Population Day is celebrated to spread awareness about the exploding world population and the importance of reproductivity health. The main goal of celebrating World Population Day is to control the increasing population of the world.
This year we are celebrating World Population Day 2022 under the theme of "A World of 8 Billion: Towards a resilient future for all - Harnessing Opportunity and ensuring rights and choices for all".
In the year 2011, the world population reached 7 billion, and this year it is expected that the population mark may cross 8 Billion. The world is facing many problems due to this massive population growth. Some of the major problems are food shortage, pollution, crime, overcrowding, depleting natural resources, etc.
Asia is the most populated continent in the world. The top 2 populated countries are China, India, and the USA respectively. All these countries should take the necessary steps to control the population.
The primary aim of World Population Day is to create awareness about reproduction-related issues. It also empowers the young generation by making them aware of sex education and many more thing.
